The exhibition title is taken from the Classic 1973 Hindi film, which in English translates as; food, clothing and shelter. The bare necessities of life.

Through the workshop we explored ideas of home, belonging, identity and located ourselves in a context of documenting the here and now, to touch and depict a diverse reality of people.

All seven photographer’s produced some very interesting work under limited time constriction. This project has given them a chance to develop a new body of work and the confidence to take it further.

We managed to get all the printing and frames ready in two days, thanks to Cop Shiva for his persistence.

Here’s a selection of their work.

I’m on a 3 week arts residency here in Bangalore, staying at No.1 Shanthi Road, a space specially set up for visiting artists. I’ve been facilitating a series of workshops with local young photographers.  We are already on our 2nd week and I’ll be curating an exhibition of their work to be launched in the art space at No.1 Shanthi Road on 25th July.  http://www.homelandsindia.com/blog.

I gave a talk at National Gallery of Modern Art about my work.  The guys in the pics were getting the tea ready beforehand…..it’s a beautiful building surrounded by lush trees and plants.
