I’m back from my trip and just editing my work, I will blog some of them through out this week.
According to Wikipedia, the Lalbagh Rock is one of the oldest rock formations on earth, dating back to 3 million years. I loved that people would come early morning and do a range of activities from stretching, yoga, meditation or just sit or lie flat on the rock. I can see the attraction, it felt very calming and fresh, an uplifting start to the day.
The exhibition title is taken from the Classic 1973 Hindi film, which in English translates as; food, clothing and shelter. The bare necessities of life.
Through the workshop we explored ideas of home, belonging, identity and located ourselves in a context of documenting the here and now, to touch and depict a diverse reality of people.
All seven photographer’s produced some very interesting work under limited time constriction. This project has given them a chance to develop a new body of work and the confidence to take it further.
We managed to get all the printing and frames ready in two days, thanks to Cop Shiva for his persistence.
